Introduction To Precision Injection Molds

Mar 17, 2026

A precision injection mold is a device used to form precision products by injecting molten resin into a metal mold cavity under high pressure, followed by cooling and solidification. Its core structure comprises the main runner, sub-runners, gates, and a cooling and temperature control system; the molding process encompasses stages such as injection, holding pressure, cooling, and ejection. This technology necessitates the selection of engineering plastics with stable mechanical properties and specialized injection molding equipment, as well as strict control over mold tolerances, material shrinkage rates, and process parameters to meet high-precision requirements. Companies within this industry-such as Lian Technology-primarily engage in the R&D, manufacturing, and sales of precision injection molds and related products.

The dimensional accuracy of products produced via precision injection molding can reach levels below 0.01 mm, while the manufacturing tolerance of the mold cavity must be controlled within ±0.005 mm. The mold itself requires the use of alloy steels with high mechanical strength; the hardness of the molding components must reach approximately HRC 52, and high-precision manufacturing processes-such as CNC machining, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and wire cutting-must be employed. This technology is suitable for both small-batch prototyping and the manufacturing of precision components, with critical stages involving mold temperature control, anti-deformation design, and precision machining. Currently, over half of the high-precision molds utilized domestically are imported; core technological expertise is concentrated on optimizing material compatibility, mold flow analysis, and the systematic integration of precision molding processes. These products are widely applied in the manufacturing of complex structural components across various sectors, including consumer electronics, automotive parts, medical devices, aerospace, and new energy vehicles.
